Browning Buck Mark

I made a somewhat impulsive gun purchase this weekend.  I bought a Browning Buck Mark on Friday.

The Buck Mark is a semi-automatic handgun chambered in .22 Long Rifle.  Browning has several models available, but this one is a Standard Stainless URX.  It has an aluminum alloy frame, a stainless steel bull barrel, and apparently a stainless steel slide.  Standard target sights.

I bought it to use at the range to practice my handgun marksmanship.  I can easily go through 150 or 200 rounds of ammunition at each trip to the range.  With .22 LR, it is affordable.  I got the stainless steel model because I fully intend to neglect the gun, skipping cleanings most of the time.

The gun shoots well enough, but I recall that my brother’s Beretta Neos was more accurate than this.  Perhaps it will improve as it breaks in, and maybe I will find a load that the gun really likes.  The trigger is pretty good, better than most factory triggers.  However, I think I can improve it by polishing the sear.  I will buy an appropriate stone and set to work on it when I have some time.

The purchase was not completely impulsive.  It had been on my wish list for a while, and now that I have membership at an indoor range five minutes from my house, a .22 LR pistol was something that I really needed to have soon.  However, the timing was a little ill advised because of my cash flow, particularly after paying for a Ruger rifle the same week.  The rifle should be arriving this week (tomorrow, apparently).
